Eric Franz Joseph Lutz, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2013 surrounded by his wife and partner of almost 50 years and their four children. Born in 1939 in Soest, in the Netherlands, Eric immigrated to Canada in the 1960s, received an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, and began a long and successful career in marketing in the automotive industry after moving to the United States in 1968.
To all who knew Eric, he was first and foremost a family man. He adored his wife, was always extraordinarily present in the lives of his four children, and stayed in close contact with his extended family in the Netherlands. Eric had more hobbies than time but he loved skiing, tennis, sailing, model trains, stamp collecting, and planning and taking adventurous trips with his wife, children, friends, and later grandchildren. As a life-long Catholic, Eric also received enormous strength from his faith.
Eric was extremely proud of his four children and their families: Sabrina Laine and her husband, Richard in Washington, DC: Quentin Lutz and his wife Leanne in Sylvania, OH; Mariska Morse and her husband, Michael in New Orleans, LA; and, Erika Tran and her husband, Viet in Indianapolis, IN. Together they gave Eric and his loving wife, Dob, ten healthy grandchildren. He is also survived by his three siblings, Maritz Zwolsman, Karin Lutz, and Ruud Lutz—all in the Netherlands—as well as his many nieces, nephews, sister-and-brother in-laws, and close friends in every corner of the world.
Eric lived well, was well loved, and will be sorely missed.
Memorial Services will be held in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 11:00 AM. A second memorial service will be held in Charlestown, NH on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Catherine’s Church, 11:00 AM.
