Georgia Tisdale, 92, passed away Tuesday, September 16, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA with family by her side. She was the daughter of Willie and Elsie (Bigham) Adams. Georgia was born in Benton, Illinois on December 2, 1932.
Georgia graduated from Benton High School in 1950 where she was a majorette and cymbal player in the band as well as holding positions on the school newspaper and Yearbook. After graduation she earned a Nursing Degree from Barnes Nursing School in St. Louis, MO. Georgia began writing letters to a friend of her roommate, a fella named Jack, who she married in 1953. She had a rewarding nursing position in a doctor’s office until raising children came into the picture.
Georgia loved activities with family and friends from camping and fishing trips with her husband and kids to card games with more laughter than card playing with friends. Visits and trips with her sister and her brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews were happy times full of laughs and treasured memories. Georgia was a very supportive and invested mother and a very loved companion in life.
Georgia is survived by her children, Daniel Tisdale, David Tisdale, Erinn Tisdale (Donna), and John Tisdale; her grandchildren Terra Palmer, Jason Tisdale, and Sophie Tisdale; her great grandchildren Zachary Palmer, David Tisdale, Steven Tisdale, and Jaxton Tisdale; her sister Shirley (Adams) Beard of Benton, IL, and her brothers-in-law Jim Tisdale (Bernice) of Boise, ID and Fred Tisdale (Cheryl) of Mount Vernon, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Paul and Helen Tisdale, her beloved husband of 65 years Jack Tisdale, her brothers-in-law Barney Beard and Paul Tisdale, her sister-in-law Mary (McCann) Tisdale and her niece Tammy Beard.
A memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
