Harry Steven "Steve" Stonehill, Jr., age 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Fredericksburg. He was born on March 19, 1954, in Manila to the late Harry Solomon Stonehill and Lourdes Blanco Stonehill.
Steve lived life fully, passionately, and on his own terms. He loved beautiful women, delicious food, loud music, luxury cars, good company, and celebrating life whenever he could. He believed in living in the moment, enjoying every experience, and making the people around him feel welcomed and appreciated. Whether sharing a meal, telling stories, or simply laughing with friends and family, Steve brought warmth and energy everywhere he went. His laugh was unforgettable - loud, genuine, and contagious - and it could light up an entire room.
Steve lived such a wild and adventurous life that his family often joked that, much like a cat, he had nine lives. And true to form, he seemed determined to fully live every one of them. He embraced life fearlessly, indulging in its pleasures, chasing experiences, and creating unforgettable stories and memories along the way. His adventurous spirit, charm, and larger-than-life personality made him someone people gravitated toward instantly.
One of Steve's accomplishments was to get a Masters Degree in Psychology. He was involved in AA in Palm Springs for 17 years, assisting many people in achieving sobriety from alcohol and substance abuse. He showed these people how to live a life with dignity.
Steve also took pride in his work as a home builder, helping develop numerous housing projects alongside his brother Mike and sister Susan. Through their hard work and partnership, they helped build homes and communities that stand as part of his lasting legacy.
He idolized his father, deeply loved his mother and family, and cherished the many animals he cared for throughout his life. He had a special gift for nurturing wild animals, feeding and protecting them with extraordinary compassion. His beloved cats were among his greatest companions and brought him endless comfort and joy. Steve was a giver by nature - generous with his time, his heart, and his spirit. He simply loved to love, and those fortunate enough to know him felt that love deeply. In the end he grew to rely on his nephew Calen for assistance and the bond and friendship that developed will be cherished.
A devoted uncle and family man, Steve played an important role in helping raise his niece and nephews in Palm Springs. He shared his humor, kindness, and adventurous spirit generously, creating memories that his family will cherish forever. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his spirit, laughter, and love will continue to live on through everyone whose lives he touched.
Steve was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth Ann Stonehill Levy.
He is survived by his brother, Michael "Mike" Stonehill; his sisters, Susan Stonehill and Kathy Carp (Ernesto); his nieces and nephews, Adam Levy, Matt Levy, Jenny Barmach, Tamis Davis, Carissa Sengal, Justine Stonehill, Ryan Stonehill, Mike Stonehill, and Joey Stonehill; as well as 22 great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fredericksburg SPCA in Steve's honor.
