

Born on May 13, 1943, in West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Naomi (Johns) Burnett. Hattie pursued her passion for helping others by attending nursing school in Norfolk, Virginia, where she became a licensed practical nurse. For over 30 years, she dedicated her life to caring for others, providing comfort and support during their times of need. Her compassion and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on countless patients and families.
Hattie had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she spoke daily. She cherished listening to them read books and treasured the time spent with them. Hattie was also an avid follower of current events, always eager to engage in conversation and share her thoughts. Known for her silly sense of humor, she brought joy and laughter to her family and friends. With a green thumb, she took great care of her plants, often sharing her gardening tips with loved ones.
Hattie was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Edward and Carey Burnett, and her beloved daughter, Tjuana Obey. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Obey and Mark Obey (Dina); her daughter, Danielle Harris (Joseph); and her brother, Clayton Burnett. Hattie was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Rebecca Baker, Jordan Obey, Kareem Obey, Sofia Harris, Laila Harris, and Adam Harris. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Micah Watson, Herbert Morgan, and Serena Morgan, as well as one great-great-granddaughter, Autumn Boyd. Hattie leaves behind her niece Beatrice Burnett and extended family, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Hattie’s family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, located at 1621 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, VA, where a memorial service will begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private.
Hattie will be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and the positive impact she made on everyone she met. Her family is grateful for the cherished moments they shared with her and will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
