Irvin Boyd Childs

Irvin Boyd Childs, 71 of Fredericksburg passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Mary Washington Hospital. Irvin was born, December 1951, to the late James Childs, Sr., and Mary Ella Garnett of Spotsylvania. Irvin accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Fredericksburg, VA. Irvin enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. He was a diehard Washington Redskins (or whatever they call themselves these days) fan. Irvin played the drums and guitar at various churches. Besides his parents Irvin was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Childs and Gwendolyn Barrier; and daughter, Sherika Parker. He leaves to cherish his memory, his fiancé, Shelia Staples; daughter, Sheena Norris; son, Reyond Childs; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn Minor, Linda Scobey, and Mae (Mary) Robinson; two brothers, Walter (Randy) Childs and James Childs, Jr.; three brother in laws; a host of nieces and nephews, and great nephew, Antwan Childs, cousins, and other family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel at 2:00 pm, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service.
