

James Douglas Crismond, Sr (Jimmy) passed away peacefully at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC on March 28, 2020. A native of Stafford, VA, Jimmy was a graduate of Stafford High School and an accomplished athlete. He was a member of the National Guard and was a retiree from the Federal Government.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved people and never met a stranger. Jimmy’s smile could light up a room and he had a way of bringing joy to everyone he met. He never missed an opportunity to laugh, make jokes or help a friend in need. His larger than life personality will forever be remembered by family and friends. He loved attending bluegrass music festivals, bird watching, football and spending time with family.
Jimmy was always up for a challenge, and at the age of 71, he learned to play the bass guitar. He and his wife, Ruth Ann, played beautiful music together with Jimmy on the bass guitar and Ruth Ann on the banjo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James (Buddy) and Ruby Crismond, sisters, Joyce McGinniss and Janet Bowling, and son, James Douglas Crismond, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Ann Crismond and daughters, Rhonda Riner and Kristi Coyne. He was the proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, Kelly Riner, Andrew Riner, Jimmy Riner, Mason Coyne and Lydia Coyne.
There will be a private service on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 1:00 pm streamed
through Mullins & Thomson Funeral Service Facebook Page. There will also be a private burial immediately afterwards at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg, VA. Condolences may be sent at mullinsthompsonfredericksburg.com
