Obituary of James Wesley Hudson
James Wesley Hudson, Sr. 93 of Spotsylvania County passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011. He graduated from Gettysburg College with Honors in Chemistry and Physics. Jim was commissioned in the Army in 1939 as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry after four years of ROTC taken during his matriculation at Gettysburg. He was a Captain in the US Army during WWII and was a veteran of the North African and European theaters. While in Egypt, he was recruited into the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Once in the OSS, he carried out clandestine missions behind enemy lines until the end of the war. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star, Invasion Arrowhead, and Six Battle Stars. Jim had as much success after the war as he did during. He was twice commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by governors Julian M. Carroll and Edward T. Breathitt. He became Director of Research for the Walker Brothers Company, General Manager of Howard Foundry Company, Principal of King Hudson Consultants, National Manager of Systems for Square D. Company, and Principal of Hudson & Associates, LLC. After his retirement, he taught at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, James Hudson, Jr., Wesley Hudson, and Stephen Hudson; daughters, Beverly McCormick, and Dana Goldstein; and 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Colleen McCormick. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service.
