James Albert Jones

James Albert Jones was born to Howard and Mary Lucille Jones on January 26, 1931 in Picayune, Mississippi. He was later adopted by Robert and Alberta Zolicoffer of Goodman, Mississippi and there spent much of his childhood and completed his schooling. Back in those days folks around Goodman knew him as Albert Zollicoffer.

In 1973 James came to understand bible truths and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brandon, Florida. Shortly thereafter he moved back to Mississippi with a burning zeal to share his newfound faith with family and friends. James was full of laughter, knew no stranger, shared the kingdom good news with absolutely every person he came in contact with. His biological mother Mary was one of many who responded favorably to his efforts, dedicated her life to Jehovah, got baptized and continued loyal service until her death.

James was united in marriage to Juanita Hughes on July 26, 1975. He also served faithfully as an elder and regular pioneer for many years in the Lexington MS congregation.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Juanita Hughes Jones; his biological parents Howard and Mary Jones, as well as his adoptive parents Robert and Alberta Zolicoffer.

James leaves to cherish his memory five sons Shaun Jones (Joanne) of Fredericksburg, VA; Anthony Jones; David Hughes (Vanesa) of Lithonia, GA; James Jones of Holly Springs, MS; John Jones (Cristy) of Durant, MS; Jesse Jones of Goodman, MS; and daughter Denise Mitchell of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

James finished his earthly course on May 31, 2021.
