James was a man of steel. Not because he was without softness, but because he was strong when the people he loved needed him to be. His love was shown with very few words but expressed through the things he did. To some these gestures expressed may have seemed ordinary, but to those he loved it meant everything. He was a man that felt deeply and only those he held dear to him witnessed the steel bend. A protector, provider, teacher, and storyteller. A man who could make you laugh in one breath and in the next teach you a life lesson. He saw the beauty in knowledge, craftmanship and family. He had built more than simple projects with his hands they are memories the family will cherish forever.
James’s mind held a lifetime of knowledge, his body showed immense strength. Somehow even through his toughest battles he managed to hold on to his softness. A man of steel with a heart that was everything but his strength will live on in those he protected. His wisdom in those he taught, his laughter in the memories he shared and his love in every life he touched. Even though he is no longer standing beside us, everything he built remains. As steel does, we will carry him for the rest of our lives.
