Obituary of Jennifer Mary Folts
Jennifer “Jen” Mary Folts (Stitson) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 9, 2019. Jen was born on June 9, 1942 at Watford Maternity Home in Hertfordshire England. She grew up in the town of Rickmansworth, where she lived until she met and married an American, Harold “Hal” C. Folts on February 23, 1963. Together they lived in Germany, then France before returning “home” to Rickmansworth. In 1970 they moved their family to Virginia. Although Jen resided in America for 49 years, her heart remained in England. Jen visited her beloved sister Daphne, family and friends, in England annually. We imagine she is now strolling through the lanes and hills of her beautiful “home” — looking for birds, soaking in the lovely views and enjoying long conversations and laughter with family and friends who passed before her. Jen was generous, and kind to the ones she loved. She was quick-witted and opinionated. One would always know what she thought. She made us laugh and cry with her quick wit. Jen was a gracious host to those who entered her home, including family gatherings, parties, neighbors and out of town visitors. This is the year of the Pig which is fitting for Jen. She had a collection of several hundred pigs around her house. She was well known among family and friends for her baking — in particular, her mini cheesecakes. She enjoyed bird watching, traveling near and far with her dear friend Bev seeking out new species for their “lifer” bird lists. She loved knitting, crocheting, reading and crosswords. In addition, Jen ran a successful vacation home rental business, and served as the marketing/events manager for Omnicom, Hal’s data communications firm. She raised three strong children. This strength has been passed on to her grandchildren and will continue through future generations. She will live through all of us, in our hearts and actions. She was known by those that loved her as Wifeykins, Mom, Mummy, Mummykins, Nanny and Nanners. She is survived by her husband (Hal), 3 children (Karen, Michelle, Bryan) and 10 grandchildren (Tim, Katrina, Alex, Sarah, Matthew, Lucas, Adam, Talon, Sebastian, Kaity). She loved as her own (Devon, Shane & Aidan). She is predeceased by her parents Inez and Walter Stitson. Please join us at 1:00 PM on Thursday February 14 to celebrate her life at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Services on Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg, Virginia. There will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, please honor Jen with a donation to either the Audubon Society (audubon.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
