Born to the late Glenroy Haney and Bernice Monroe Haney in September 1937, Jerry grew up in Fredericksburg and was close to his brother Jim Haney and his cousin Ron Aydlotte. He graduated from James Monroe High School and the University of Richmond and pursued a career as a mathematician and computer scientist, retiring from the federal government in Dahlgren at the age of 53. Jerry loved racquet sports including tennis, ping pong, and especially racquetball. He was also an avid Bridge player and wildlife rehabilitator. He loved spending time in the home he built in King George.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judith Haney; his children, Jennifer de la Calzada of Stafford, Jeffrey Haney of Fredericksburg, Lisa Elmore and Brian Thomas, both of Greenville, South Carolina; and ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
