He is survived by his life partner, Jeff Mace of 23 years; son, John Whitehead, Jr.; daughter, Morrisa Kimbrell (Tommy); father, D.B.Whitehead; brother, Wayne Whitehead; grandson, Wesley Kimbrell; two nephews, Wayne Whitehead Jr. and Wesley Whitehead; and one niece, Audrey Forbes. .
John is predeceased by his mother, Katherine Whitehead.
A memorial service will be held at St. Georges Episcopal Church on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 5:00 PM. The family will be gathering at the Village of Idlewild Clubhouse following the service for a celebration of John’s life. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
