

Born in St. Mary’s County Maryland September 21, 1947, the first of 7 children to Joseph Elmer Norris Sr and Mary Ora Hill Norris. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corp, shipping off to Vietnam with the 1st Battalion 9th Marines known as “The Walking Dead” where he endured heavy combat, helicopter crashes and tropical diseases during his deployment. Returning home, he met his wife Mary and started a family before finding his career as a contractor in the Fredericksburg Virginia area ultimately retiring to Colonial Beach.
He was known for his sense of humor and playful demeanor and always surrounded himself with good food, good music and friends. He will be missed by the many who were lucky to cross paths.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughter Bobbi Baker and husband Dan, son Ryan Norris as well as his three grandchildren: Will Baker, Harrison Baker and Kendall Norris; his siblings Kathy Morrissette and husband Allen, Joseph Norris Jr, David Norris and wife Cathy, Angie Thompson and Rosemary Longfield and husband Mel. He was proceeded in death by his brother King.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project.
