Joyce Helena Hicks
February 9, 1938 – January 16, 2022

Joyce Helena (Davis) Hicks, 83, of Fredericksburg, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Joyce was born and raised in Greeneville, TN before moving to Washington DC in 1957. She was a preschool teacher, taught Sunday school, and Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed singing for many years in local and church choirs. Joyce also loved to entertain and cook for her family. She prepared many wonderful holiday meals. Her smile was beautiful and everyone who met her loved her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 64 years, Howard H. Hicks; son, William (Susan) Hicks; daughter, Cheryl Jordan; granddaughters, Nicole Hicks, Danielle (Chris) Duckett, and Sarah Hicks; seven great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, John Hicks and Steve Hicks; a special sister-in-law, Betty Davis; and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, William Brownlow Davis and Manilla Darnell Davis; brothers, Billie Davis, Paul Davis, Ray Davis, and Wayne Davis; sisters, Eva Ruth Crum, Thelma Ward, Emma Jean Shelton, Earnestine Douthat, and Margaret Waddell; and a special sister-in-law, Annette Davis.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 11:30am to 1:00pm with a service to follow at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home, 1621 Emancipation Hwy., Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Interment will follow at 2:00pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Dr., Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
