

He was born on May 5, 1955 in Fredericksburg, VA to the late Julian Trussell Harrell, Sr. and Beulah (Sullivan) Harrell.
JT was born and raised in Fredericksburg, VA. He grew up playing baseball, and developing his passion for hunting, and fishing with many friends and family. If you couldn’t find JT, all you had to do was look for him in Potomac Creek or down at Mattaponi Hunt Club. He had two beautiful daughters, Laura and Catie, whom he loved very much and tried to teach them everything he knew. He also loved his grandchildren, Brenton and Maverick, and his step grandchildren, Laila, Bobby, and Bryce.
JT had a very long career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a gunsmith and firearms instructor. He loved what he did and had plenty of accomplishments to prove his time and dedication. This also included efforts of evidence recovery at the Pentagon after 9/11. He traveled the world, met many famous people, and left a mark on everyone’s path he crossed. He was a very honorable man that many people looked up to and respected.
Predeceased by his parents and two sisters: Fran Hicks and Linda Roberson
Survivors include his two daughters: Laura Estep (Brent) and Catherine Harrell; one stepdaughter, Heather Sargent; five grandchildren: Brenton and Maverick Estep, Laila, Robert and Bryce Sargent, and his wife, Regina Ewing-Harrell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
