

Kelly Eugene Pickett (AKA Jitter Bug), 85, of Partlow, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Born on August 29, 1939, in Bluefield, West Virginia, Kelly lived a vibrant and hardworking life that touched the hearts of many.
A master of his craft, Kelly was known as one of the best brick masons around. His work stood as a testament to his dedication and skill—strong, enduring, and built with pride. Over the years, he earned the respect of peers and clients alike for his craftsmanship and unwavering work ethic.
Kelly was a beloved husband to Patricia Pickett of Partlow, VA. He was a devoted father to Michael Pickett (Luanne) of Sterling, VA; Tammie Higgins (Butch) of Sumerduck, VA; and the late Rocky Pickett of Daytona Beach, FL. He also shared a special bond with his stepchildren Jack Iden (Lisa), Karen Iden, and Tonya Gardner—all of Partlow—who were dear parts of his extended family.
As a grandfather—affectionately known as “Poppy”—Kelly found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren: Cody Iden of Partlow, Travis Pickett (Danielle) of Lovettesville, Susanne Lowe (Carl) of Sterling and Kellee Pickett of Sumerduck, Priscilla Sites of Florida, Presley Sites (Kayla) of Alabama, Jake Iden of West Virginia, Hunter Iden of Lake Anna, Cristal Grantz of Lake Anna, Kenny Gardner (Jaclyn) of Round Hill, LeighAnn Gardner of Ohio. Great Grandchildren: CJ, Brielle, Tylor, Courtney, Hayley, Jacob, Jamie, Cameron, Peyton, Colton, Grayson, Bristol, Everly, Everleigh, Beckham, Gloria, Noah, Vivienne . His love for them was boundless and evident in every story he told and every moment he shared.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Gertrude Pickett of Sandlick Junction, WV; his brothers Ted Jr. (Marie) Pickett of Columbus, OH; Nelson (Janice) Pickett of Rock, WV; sister Joyce (Willie) Havens of Sandlick Junction; and son Rocky Pickett.
Kelly’s life was rich with passion—for NASCAR races that got his heart racing, for football games that brought him joy each season—but above all else, for his family. He cherished time spent with nieces and nephews who adored him just as much as he adored them. Known for spinning unforgettable tales from a life well-lived, Affectionately known as Uncle Jitter Bug had an unmatched gift for storytelling that captivated everyone lucky enough to listen.
To know Kelly was truly an honor. He was a loving father, husband, stepfather, grandfather and uncle as well as a treasured friend to so many. His presence lit up every room he entered with warmth and laughter.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire strength in the hearts he leaves behind.
