

Lillian Gentry Flippo passed away at home on July 17, 2026, at the age of 100. She was born in Charleston, WV, on February 19, 1926 to Miles Harding Gentry and Effie Bentley Gentry. Not long after, the family moved to Bumpass, VA, where she grew up loving to work on the family farm. At the young age of 12, she committed her life to God and faithfully served God and others until the end of her life. On January 26, 1946, she married Bernard Flippo and moved to Stafford County where they later raised their three sons.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by her siblings Lena Gentry, Wilma Pierson, Lester Gentry, and Pauline Hockaday. She is survived by her sons, Harry B. Flippo, Jr. (Cheryl), Robert W. Flippo, and Dale A. Flippo (Sue); grandchildren Debra Hodges (Brad), David Flippo (Julie), Amber Flippo-MacLennan (Eric), Andrew Flippo (Krista), Kaitlin Fanning, Ryan Fanning, and Tara Fanning; four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401, on Sunday, July 26. Visitation will be 3:30PM-5:00PM, with the service at 5 PM. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service, at the Eagles Lodge, 21 Cool Spring Rd, Fredericksburg, VA, 22405. A private burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
