Lisa, I will never forget the beautiful smile. May GOD bless you.
January 31, 2011
Lisa's death is a great loss to all of us who knew her. I worked with her at the Reserve Officers Association for many years. She was consistently dedicated, sympathetic, cheerful (often under the most trying circumstances), and truly concerned about those around her. We are all poorer for her passing, but richer for having shared her time here. Her memory will always be a comfort and a consolation.

Sharon and Junior, Lisa was the ROA staff member who supported the registration of all the officers attending the ROA's Joint Officer Professional Development seminars held in conjunction with ROA's National Convention and Mid-Winter meeting. She was the best in providing customer support when in processing the attendees. We always received very positive feedback from the attendees about the smile she greeted them with and then taking charge to make sure they were registered and ready to go. She was such a delight to work with. I know she is up there with that same smile in processing those entering the pearly gates.

Lisa,
I was so sad hearing of your passing, it brought back so many memories, especially the time when I was dating a girl on Mercer Street and we had broken up and she wouldn't give back my high school ring. Lisa came up with a plan. She would pose as my new girlfriend and we'd go to her house and get it. We got there and the girl told us and her mother that she couldn't find it. Lisa, you sure told her when you said that might work with your moma, but it won't work with Lisa Childress!! When you told the girl if she didn't come across with that ring you'd help her look for it at school the next day, she magically found it in her pocket so I had my ring back in about 2 seconds.
Thanks for all the memories !! We were all sort of like the Dukes of Hazzard!!! Me you and bage in the shoebox!!!
You will always be missed and remembered!!!
Love,
Your friend,
Tony Jenkins

I was so sad to hear about Lisa! We were so very close after high school -- Lisa, Janette and me were always together! I can still hear her giggles and see her warming smile. My heart goes out to her family. Quoted from a headstone in Ireland -- Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; but love leaves a memory no one can steal. With love, Paula Jackson Sledd

To all of Lisa's family: May God's great gift of time soften the sharp edges of your grief and burnish ever more brightly the wonderful memories!! It is hard to realize such a vital life force is gone from us. I saw a rainbow and a bolt of lightning and said to myself "she's arrived and it'll be more fun there than it ever was". I always looked forwrd to our phone chats and spemding a bit of time with her at ROA events. COL Eileen Bonner Past National President, ROA

My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa's closest loved ones at this sad time. I worked with Lisa years ago at ROA and she always a joy to work with and one of my favorite people there. She always had a smile and a great outlook on life. I'm still having a hard time knowing that she is no longer with us, but I find comfort that she is in a better place. Lisa - you touched so many people's lives without realizing it. I remember you as a small, beautiful child, with the brightest eyes and smile, playing with my own children. Like many, had not seen you for some years, but thought of you often. Your bright light will not be diminished or extinguished by your early passing; friends remembered live forever. God's peace

Sharon, Garnett, Tony Buck and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I was deeply saddened to read about Lisa. My memory rushes back to when we all lived on Lee Street; Lisa breaking her arm on Mr. & Mrs. Satterwhites fence; Tony Buck driving Jr. to the hospital after Jr. was bitten by a snake, oh and Tony Buck wasn't old enough to have a license; Garnett going gigging and Sharon frying frog legs and laughing as they jumped out of the pan. So many fond memories on Lee Street. May you find peace that Lisa is not alone; not suffering, but with family and friends that met her when she went home. I know in my heart that my daddy was there waiting for her with open arms.
Love,
