

It is with great sadness that we announce Lonny Lee Wilson, age 82, of Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with family at his side.
He was born on December 4, 1942, in Du Quoin, Illinois, son of John T. Wilson and Charlotte G. Wilson, and grew up in Dowell, Illinois.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Wilson; daughter, Laura Wilson; and son, John Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Darla Wilks.
Lonny was a graduate of Elkville, Illinois Community High School (1960), Southern Illinois University (1964), and Missouri University of Science and Technology (1970). He had a distinguished career in math, science and technology fields. He worked as a teacher and in technical roles in pharmaceutical, food, and computer science science industries, and held several patents. He also served in the Peace Corps, teaching math and science in Malawi, Africa.
Lonny was known for his intellect, his adventurous, friendly, generous and humorous nature, and for his inquisitiveness, with a great love of learning and of sharing knowledge with others. He also enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, boating, fishing, gardening, and traveling. He will be remembered for all he shared with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
