On January 16, 2022, our beloved mother and grandmother, Lucia Cardim Cavalcante, passed away into God’s graces after a brief illness. A warrior through life, she was 93 years old. Always praying, she was a very loving and caring person, and had many friends. The ones that knew her, describe her as a special lady with a wonderful singing voice and the gift to make others feel special. She taught English in Brazil, and her students loved her. She sang as a soprano in the St. Patrick Catholic Church Choir for many years. She was proud to be a Media Missionary for EWTN Eternal World Television Network), and liked to send donations to institutions like St. Jude Children’s Hospital and others. She just liked to help and protect people. Her smile and good humor were contagious.
She was born in Petrópolis, a city in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and married her husband, Rodolfo Pinto Cavalcante, deceased, in 1957. She is survived by her two daughters, Regina Cid (Jose) and Celina Falck-Cook (Roger); and her grandchildren, Leticia Cid, Valter Cid, Vitor Cid, Vinicius Cid, Ana Falck and Rodolfo Falck.
Her memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 9600 Caritas Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 on Tuesday, January 25, at 11 a.m.
