He was a US Navy veteran of the WWII serving in the South Pacific as a seabee.
He is survived by his son; Dennis Howard and wife, Robin of Fredericksburg;
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, two sons, Gary and Kenneth Howard; daughter, Katherine Howard; two brothers, James Howard Jr. and Wilson Howard; three sisters, Marion Grabman, June Damer, and Rose Cox.
A service will be held at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM, with the family receiving friends and hour prior to the service. Rev. Paul Curry and Rev. Kenneth Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
