It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Bright, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on June 21, 2026, at his home in the comforting presence of his wife and family.
Michael was born on November 1, 1959, in Camp Lejune, North Carolina, to Edward and Velma Bright.
High School sweethearts, Michael married Brenda Wooten in 1984, embarking on a journey together that would span half a century. Their love was a testament to enduring partnership, weathering life’s ups and downs with unwavering support for one another. He is her everything and together, they raised two cherished daughters, Misty and Holly. In recent years, they had been dreaming of traveling and enjoying retirement together.
Michael's love for life was infectious, and his hobbies were a reflection of his spirited nature. He loved riding his motorcycle on winding country roads, especially when accompanied by Brenda or one of his daughters. He was always down for a party or grabbing a beer with friends. Family gatherings often included him and his brother jamming on their guitars until the early morning hours. A favorite pastime, Michael could devour crab legs like no other, a playful claim he wore with pride.
He built a career in construction from a young age, founding and running his own company for many years. His hands bore the callouses of hard work, yet his heart was soft and abundant with kindness. His willingness to lend a hand was a cornerstone of his character, a trait that endeared him to many in his community.
In his later years, his grandchildren brought immense joy and warmth to his life. His eyes would light up with pride and love anytime he saw them. He dreamed of teaching them to play the guitar and sharing their first beers with them.
Michael was predeceased by his loving parents, Edward and Velma, and his son, Justin. His legacy continues through his devoted wife, Brenda, his daughters, Misty and Holly, and his eight adored grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit forward.
In this time of mourning, Brenda and her daughters extend their heartfelt gratitude to the friends and family who have surrounded them with love and support. Your kindness has been a source of comfort during this unexpected and challenging time.
While Michael will be profoundly missed, the memories of his vibrant spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him. Let us honor his life by cherishing our loved ones and embracing the moments that make life truly beautiful because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
