Obituary of Michael Bryant Carter Jr.
Michael Bryant Carter Jr., age 53 passed away on Sunday October 21, 2018. Michael was born November 2, 1964 to Michael Carter, Sr. and Zannie (Jennings) Carter in Cecil County, Maryland. After receiving an advanced automotive mechanical degree, he worked throughout the northern Virginia area as an automotive mechanic, shop manager, and store owner. In addition, he was a swimming pool tech specialist for Capital Pools in Manassas. At the time of his death, he was senior mechanic for Greystone Masonry in Stafford, Virginia. On April 30, 1997, Michael married Elizabeth Corry Sullivan in Fairfax, Virginia. After moving to Fredericksburg in 2003, together they raised a beautiful border collie named Zoe, who was indeed the light of their life. Zoe passed in 2017. Due to his father's influence, Michael was a car lover from an early age. He excelled at all avenues of car racing. From pure stock to super stock, and then NASCAR late model division, Michael "Mickey" Carter was a winning force on the local racing circuit. Many first place trophies later, his favorite saying was "There is no 2nd place, only 1st loser." With the passing of Mickey Carter, the racing world is a little less bright. He will be greatly missed. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Zannie; his older brother, Woody; and his precious border collie, Zoe. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; his father, Michael Sr.; his stepmother, Carol; his sisters, Melissa, Kathy, Zella, and Donna; his nephew, David; and numerous extended family members. As well, Michael leaves many friends and coworkers that will all truly miss his vast knowledge, kind nature, generosity of heart, and the strength of his spirit. A visitation for Michael will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mullinsthompsonstafford.com for the Carter family.
