

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Margaret “Peg”; son, Joseph Larose of Springfield; daughters, Kathleen Larose of Fairfax and Christine Raney of West Springfield. His step children include, Margaret Humphrey of Manassas, Kenneth Angus of Manassas, and Katherine Case of Centreville; sister, Lydia Larose Rives of Austin, TX; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr Larose was a former marine, L. Cpl. He was honorably discharged from Quantico in 1959.
He was a graduate from Jesuit High, New Orleans, LA. He attended Loyola University in New Orleans. He received his B.A. degree in Latin, English, and Biology from Springhill College in Mobile, AL in 1954. He later received his MA in Counseling from Catholic University in Washington D.C. in 1966 and an Education Specialist degree in Higher Education from George Washington University in Washington D.C. in 1978.
Mr. Larose was a lifelong educator. He taught high school at Jesuit-New Orleans, LA, Jesuit-Dallas, TX, James Monroe, Fairfax High School, Langley High School, and Quantico High School. He worked as a teacher/counselor at Strayer and Marymount colleges, and for 27 years as a counselor at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria, Annandale, and Woodbridge Campuses from which he retired in 1999. He was a part time teacher for 30 years for Fairfax County ASAP, was a active member of the Virginia Governmental Employees Association, Virginia Counselors Association, Loyola Retreat House Captain in Faulkner, MD, and a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Donald J. Rooney officiating. The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the mass at the church. Inurnment of ashes will be private at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery.
