Patricia Jean Hrin

Patty Jean Hrin, 65, died peacefully in her sleep on June 29,2025 at her home in Spotsylvania, VA. Born on January 29, 1960, in Bethesda, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John and Virginia Hrin.

Patty attended Jackson Special Education School in Arlington, VA. She was the first Down Syndrome individual employed by Arlington County. She was also employed at Taco Bell, Quantico Marine Base, and volunteered at the food bank for over a decade. Patty was an active member of the Special Friends Class at Fredericksburg Baptist Church.

In 1994, Patty moved into the Mary Kelly Group Home in Fredericksburg and resided there until November 2022. She lived, worked and played with her group home sisters Rachel Ann Scott, Leigh DeWorken, Sherre Clark and Anne Felder. She is now reunited with, Sherre and Anne in heaven. In January 2023 Patty was “adopted” by Sarah, CJ, Barry, Levi, Charlie Cranfield and Sativa Newton, who lovingly cared for her until her passing.

Patty loved celebrating holidays, caring for her doll babies, eating ice cream and watching “I Love Lucy”. She never met a stranger and brought love, joy and laughter into our lives.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 8,2025 at 11:00 am at National Memorial Park,7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA.

A Celebration of Patty’s Life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:00 am at Fredericksburg Baptist Church , 1019 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, VA 22401. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the benevolence fund at Fredericksburg Baptist Church.
