In 1964, Paul met his wife and best friend Mary. During their 53 years of marriage, they raised four daughters.
Paul was skilled in many trades, but most notably as a talented upholsterer who operated Earls’ Upholstery in the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania area for 40 years. Over the course his life his hobbies included canoeing, fishing, trail rides, horse shows and gardening. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with family and friends.
Paul was a loyal and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Whether you were family, a close friend or stranger, he was always there without reservation to help someone in need. He was the salt of the earth; a true guardian of those around him. A man you could meet once and made you feel as if you had known him forever. He was a gift from God and the family takes great comfort knowing he is with his Lord and Savior and has rejoined the love of his life and best friend. His physical presence will be forever missed but his spirit and love will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Mary B. Earls, his parents, Tom, and Ethel Earls, his brothers Therman, Tommy and Harold Earls and his sisters Louis Ellis, Margaret Bancroft, and grandson Christopher Mulkey. Paul is survived by his daughters Susan Tait (Doug), Deborah Simpson (Richard), Mary Ellen Clarke (Rob Williams), Paula Lewis; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Higgins and Lena Mae Gray and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Online condolences can be left at https://www.mullinsthompsonfredericksburg.com
