I adored my dad. He was loving, kind, a devoted husband, and had a sense of humor that took getting used too. I remember when I was little always wanting to be by his side. I would go on his fishing trips. Not because I liked fishing I just wanted to be with him. He had to drag me out of bed before daylight and do all the gross fishing stuff like worm the hook so I could proudly hold the fishing pole next to him. Sometimes he would let me go on his weekend run when he knew we would be walking after the first few blocks. He would walk me back home and continue his run without an ounce of annoyance. One of my most endearing memories was when I would pretend to fall asleep on the couch and he would carry me to bed, tuck me in, and say, “goodnight, sleep tight.“ I will remember him now relaxing on his couch next to mom with his feet up enjoying two of his favorite things a non-fiction historical book and a sleeping cat on his lap.
Forever his loving daughter,
Jennifer Jacob

To my dad,
I’m so proud of you
that it makes me proud of me.
I hope you know that.
