Phyllis was born in Wise, Virginia and had an older brother and sister and a younger brother. Shirley and Garcia preceded her in death and her younger brother Jim lives in North Carolina with his wife Merle.
Phyllis’s father, Thurston, passed away in 1967 and her mother Vivian passed in 2003.
Phyllis married Earl Robinson, after seeing him outside of a diner she was in, in downtown Wise. She would go on to say that “I saw him that day, and I knew I would marry him”. They were married for 68 years. Earl passed away in March of this year. Phyllis and Earl had one son, Kenny. He lives with his wife Adrienne in Naples Florida.
Phyllis worked at the telephone company. She began her career as a switchboard operator and retired as the secretary for the regional head of Bell Atlantic. Once she retired, she managed the Redskins Store in Occoquan, enjoyed quilting, crocheting and cooking for her church family. She was very active in her local church until her death.
She will be remembered for her constant energy, her love for her family, friends and her sacrificial giving.
Phyllis is survived by her brother Jim and her son Kenny.
