Phyllis Margaret Stirman

Phyllis Margaret Stirman (aka - Isabelle Kookamonger) of Fredericksburg, VA passed away on March 6, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 27, 1939 to the late Francis and Edna Hines Moran. Phyllis was a devout Catholic and taught High School Math for over 30 years. In her retirement, her family, friends and hobbies were her passion. She was an amazing cook and delighted in always sharing a fresh baked pie for any new neighbor or special occasion. She saw the beauty and good in every person she encountered and always had a positive outlook toward life. Phyllis was a very active member of the Aquia Evening Lions, SWIFT and the Barley Woods Social Committee. She has been a lifetime animal lover and bird watcher, especially her Blue Birds. Watching the Blue Birds brought her such joy as they frequented her back yard. She is survived by daughters Kim Young Hupp (Don) of Fredericksburg, VA; Lynne Young Roehrig (Tim) of Paulding, OH; A. Kay Young (Donna Shifflett) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and Meredith Lynn Roth of Sacramento, CA. and one brother Paul Joseph Moran. Phyllis has 6 loving grandchildren: Neil Young Roehrig, Cameron Brook Hupp, Gabriel Chad Hupp, Olivia Rose Hupp, Evan James Roth and Lily Moran Roehrig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Martin Stirman; daughter Margaret Page Young and brother Richard Ashley Moran. She took great peace of mind and soul in all the calls, letters of support and prayers throughout her health challenges. Her strength and resilience in her seven-year battle with cancer was admirable. The family is grateful for the care of Dr. Cecilia Boardman and Dr. Deana Al-Khateeb as well as her caregiver, Harriet Joe-Cobblah. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ASPCA, the local SPCA or an animal charity of your choice. A private requiem mass and later memorial service will take place at the gravesite at Quantico National Cemetery.
