Obituary of Rebekah Joy Stump
Rebekah Joy Stump, aged 35 of Stafford was received into the arms of her loving Savior from VCU Medical Center on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 after many years of fighting the long term effects of childhood leukemia. She is survived by her parents; Ronald and Lucy Stump; sister, Hannah Mae Thompson; brother, Jerry Jonathan Stump; and maternal grandmother, Eva Aubin and nephew Iaian Patrick Thompson II, nieces Cadence Joy Thompson, Abigail Grace Thompson, Faith Anne Thompson, Harmony Hope Thompson, and Sophia Claire Thompson and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. As a child, Rebekah received a second chance at life through a bone marrow transplant, from an unrelated donor, Cathy Lanagan, who considers Rebekah the daughter she never had. With this life, she blessed everyone she knew through her perseverance, strength, joyfulness, and compassion. She loved her family and friends deeply, and loved celebrating birthdays and holidays. Rebekah loved life and her many friends and was always concerned for her friends and their salvation. She was a strong believer with a deep faith in Jesus Christ. She loved Special Olympics bowling, Operation Christmas Child and Toys for Tots. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel at 2:00 pm, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service for visitation. Interment will be private for family only in Laurel Hill Memorial Park after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Special Olympics and/or the Toys for Tots program.
