

Born in King George County to Watson and Effie Henderson on October 6, 1926, she was a lifelong resident of Fredericksburg and a member of Kings Highway Baptist Church.
She worked as a seamstress, a supervisor at Rappahannock Sportswear until its closure, and at Old Towne Window Works until she retired at the age of 79. She will be remembered for her love of sewing, dancing, a good card game and as a mother and wife who cared deeply for her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Cephas Cox, and is survived by her three children: Shirley Cox Harty of Atlanta, William Ray Cox and his spouse Debbie of Fredericksburg, and Linda Sue Williams and her spouse Gary of Forest. She is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, five brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday January 04, 2017 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel.A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday January 05, 2017 at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Clore officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery following the services.
