She attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset and Mary Immaculate School of Nursing. Sharon lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Louisiana, before settling in Spotsylvania, Virginia. She was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Old Dominion University, after raising her children. Sharon’s nursing career spanned an array of specialties from the ICU to Occupational Health. The greatest joy in her career was private duty nursing, where she not only touched the lives of her patients but became a part of their families. Sharon loved the beautiful things in this world, including art, travel, fashion, flowers, and culture. Generous, eccentric, and full of life, everyone she encountered was drawn to her.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 18 at Mullins and Thompson’s Fredericksburg location. Visitation will be immediately followed by a service and reception at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Avenue, Suite 401, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Sharon adored her caregivers and the family is grateful to both Mary Washington Hospice and Greenfield Senior Living for their love and care.
