

Born on July 1, 1941, to Earl and Dorothy Bowling, Sharon grew up in a close-knit family where she learned the values of kindness, compassion, and hard work. She was a proud member of the Women's Army Corps, where she trained to become a nurse's aide. Sharon dedicated her life to rearing her five children and spent most of her time with family.
Sharon held extraordinary dedication to her children and grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her loving generosity and for being present. She truly loved being with her children and grandchildren, and she loved to sing hymns and study the Bible.
Sharon was known for her love of gardening and her ability to can foods and cook. She learned to sew from her mother, who was a seamstress, and she enjoyed crafting printed cross stitch treasures. She was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of many churches throughout the years, including the United Presbyterian Church of Ozone Park, Community Bible Evangelical Free Church, and Living Christ (formerly Long Meadow) Chapel of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, along with others.
Sharon is survived by four of her five children, David Reed (Jae), Eileen Reed, Steven Reed, and Jennifer Pavlica (John); eight of her nine grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Jacob (Kaylee), Jaina, Will, Carys, Kai, and Sarah; and her sister, Maureen Herring. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Bowling, and her brothers, Michael Bowling and John Bowling; sister Nancy Croswell; husband David E. Reed; son Kevin Reed; and granddaughter Laura Basso.
A viewing will be held in Sharon’s honor on Thursday, December 11, at 4:00 PM. at Fox Funeral Home, 98-07 Ascan Ave, Forest Hills, NY, to be followed by a memorial service from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The memorial service will be officiated by the Reverend John H. Pavlica, Jr, Sharon’s son-in-law. Burial will follow on Friday, December 12 at 11:00 AM at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY.
Sharon will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love of family, and her love of Jesus.
