
Stephen Curtis Jones, 62, of Salt Lake City, Utah, formerly of Hudson, Maine, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at The Deseret Care Center in Utah. Mr. Jones was born in Richmond, Virginia, the son of Ollie C. Jones, Jr. and Catherine W. Jones McKann.
Following graduation from James Monroe High School and Mary Washington College, he served with the Peace Corps in Micronesia. He was an avid writer, photographer and mariner navigating the McKenzie River documenting fauna and wildlife as well as completing several polar expeditions.
He is survived by a sister, Patricia J. Lynch and her husband, William; brother, O. Clinton Jones, III and his wife, Maureen, all of Fredericksburg; a niece, Amanda C. Mitchell of Vienna; and two nephews, Richard L. Mitchell, Jr of Fredericksburg and Oliver C. Jones, IV of Brooklyn, NY.
A graveside service will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Ed Bresnahan officiating.
