Stuart Duncan Yates

Stuart Duncan Yates, born February 17th, 1991, passed away tragically on the morning of January 11th, 2019 at the age of 27. He will be greatly missed for his gentle and kind nature as well as his distinctive sense of humor. Duncan, as he was known by many, enjoyed numerous close friendships. Honest and trusting, he never hesitated to express love to his friends and family. Those who knew him best cherished his loyalty and generous spirit. Duncan had a very innocent character, and relished playing with his young nephew, whom he loved so dearly. He also delighted in listening to his favorite music and appreciated all of life’s simple pleasures. His greatest pride was his work at Mary Washington Hospital as a phlebotomist. He derived great joy in providing compassionate care to each patient he served. Duncan was preceded in death by his father, Stuart Lee Yates, in 2016. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Yates, sister, Sarah Yates, grandparents, Charles & Jacqueline Yates and Eugene Brunelle, uncle and aunts Deborah Paxton and Nader & Mary Ellen Yousefian, and his beloved nephew, Charles Simmons. Memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Rosecrance Foundation, 1021 North Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61107. A celebration of life for Stuart Duncan Yates (2/17/91 - 1/11/19) will take place at Wilderness Community Church (10501 Plank Rd.) on April 13th, 2019 at 2:00 PM. The family will recieve friends at the church one hour prior to service. All who knew Duncan are welcome to attend.
