She was born April 13, 1961 in Fredericksburg, Va. to Peggy Jean Garrett and James Batson Hearn, Sr.
Susan graduated from James Monroe High school, class of 1979. Following high school Susan held several jobs including sheriff’s department dispatcher, nursery school worker and Geico Insurance worker. In her early 20’s she was diagnosed with schizo effective/bi-polar disorder and spent most of her life in residence with her parents in their separate apartment located on their residence in Colonial Beach, VA. During the last 6 years she was a resident of 2 assisted living facilities in Suffolk & Newport News, Va.
She is survived by her father, James B. Hearn, Sr. and two brothers, James Jr. of Avoca, NY and William C. Hearn and wife Denise of Forest, VA.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill cemetery on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 12 noon at the Hearn family plot where internment will take place.
In lieu of flowers sent to Oak Hill cemetery, consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Susan’s name.
