Terry Lane Matthews

Her loving devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her in her daily life and ultimately gave her peace. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. Terry was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She also loved babies and doing monumental things with limited resources.

Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” She was always praying for her family and others to receive salvation.

“Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us.” Terry rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings.

She is survived by her lifelong friend and loving husband of 50 years, Harry William Matthews; four precious daughters, Heather Mock (Donnie), Lorie Matthews, Hilary Acors (James), and Jessica Kuhnle (John); two sisters, Nunnie Pack and Pamela Leitch; brother, Charles Leitch Jr.; Mamaw to seven grandchildren Hunter, Brandon, Casey, Jocelyn, Emily, Blade and Jackson also two great grandsons Jasiah and Waylon. Along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Stafford Memorial Park.

Terry strongly recommended contributions be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
