Three years have passed and still missing you.  

I was here this day visiting and helping mom.  You were somewhat in a grouch mood, but as you've said many times before, "ain't nothing to be happy about".  
I never imagined that my last time with you on this earth would be later this evening.  Mom helped you into the wheelchair to use the bathroom, and we came back a few minutes later and you had already taken your last breath.   Everyone involved that night had made your passing as dignified as I would have imagined.  Former neighbor Clayton made his way down to the house to offer whatever assistance was needed.  i still miss you and will until the time I see you again.  Until then, watch over all of us and protect us as only a father can.  

Remembering you today, 8 June 2019, that would have been your 83rd birthday.  You were never really thrilled about celebrating your birthday, but put up with family making the day special for you.  We became accustomed to your "lack of enthusiasim"  when opening your gifts, but at the end of the day I truly believe you were thrilled with the attention. 

It has been almost four months since your passing and I wish I could reach over and give you a big kiss and hug and say "Happy Birthday, Dad"

I believe in Angels, and they are not extraordinary beings and visions with Wings and Halo’s. 
They are everyday ordinary beautiful people around us who possess very special qualities that touch our Lives, our Hearts and our Souls.
They come to us in many ways but most often in our darkest hours.  Sometimes silently and unseen, sometimes outwardly and visible, to Grace us with their Mercy and show us their Light and Love. 
Oh yes, I believe in Angels, for I have witnessed their presence in both ways, before and immediately since my father lost his battle the evening of February 26th.

Thank you to the kind and generous neighbors of my mom and dad who came offering support, prayers and unexpected gifts of love immediately.  We love you. 
Thank You to the “Unknown person” who stopped and left a beautiful gift for my dying dad not long ago.  We will “Pay it Forward” in appreciation of your extreme kindness. 
Thank you to everyone who has my mom, my family and me in their prayers. 
 All of you are absolute proof of “Angels amongst us”.
