With heavy hearts, we reflect on the life of our beloved Wilson Loveless, who departed this life on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Wilson was born on December 23, 1957, to the union of Samuel and Annie Loveless. A lifelong resident of East St. Louis, Illinois, Wilson was raised and educated in School District 189, where he built a foundation of strong values that would carry him throughout his life.
Wilson's journey in life was one of dedication, service, and faith. After graduating from East St. Louis High School, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, where his service took him to various states. Upon retiring from the military, Wilson settled in Virginia, where he made his home and worked as a cook in a local prison. But it was in his spiritual life where Wilson truly made his mark. He dedicated himself to serving God as a Prophet at the Open Door Church of God in Christ Jesus, under the leadership of the late Apostle C.L. Young, who also preceded him in death. Wilson’s ministry was one of deep faith, and his commitment to spreading God’s word touched many lives.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Latrice Merriweather of Wisconsin; sons, Michael and Shuntrell Loveless; and ex-wife, Mary Miller. Wilson is also survived by his devoted sisters Barbara Loveless, Ruth (Andrew) Prowell, Rosetta Loveless, Betty Loveless, Michelle (Willie) Bowman, Shelley Loveless, Ruthie Loveless, Deborah (Charles) De’Walt; brother, Elder Samuel (Paula) Loveless; and grandchildren, Tyez, Jaleel and Michaela.
Wilson was preceded in death by his beloved father, Samuel Loveless Sr.; mother, Annie Loveless; sister, May Loveless Whitle; two brothers Jacob Lee Loveless and Joe Loveless.
In this time of sorrow, we take solace in the love and strength Wilson shared with us all. His life was a testament to resilience, service, and unwavering faith. As we grieve his passing, we remember his dedication to God, his love for his family, and the impact he made on all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were touched by his life and ministry.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Quantico National Cemetery at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Open Door Church of God in Christ Jesus.
We will forever hold Wilson Loveless in our hearts, cherishing the memories and lessons he leaves behind. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
