When I was a child, maybe 10 or 11, I came to missouri to spend time with the grandparents and Aunt Susie. Even though she had a job and a social life she always made time for me. Somehow, probably during my non stop talking, she heard I had a crush on Peter Noone, lead singer of Herman’s Hermits. I am pretty sure I had told no one but her my “secret “. She surprised me by taking me to the drive-in to see their movie!! No one else would have taken a little girls crush as seriously. That was over 50 years ago and the memory and feelings of that moment have never left me.

I am trying to think of a favorite memory and can't because there are so many. She was like a second mother to us. She was the fun mother who showed us how to tie thread around horse flies heads and let them fly around like kites, how to throw rocks in the air by the dust to lawn light after dark to attract bats because they thought they were bugs, how to make a fire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows, how to thread a needle and sew a button on and sew hems, we spent many nights at her house reading books doing homework as we called it, cooked us mac and cheese(everybody's favorite). Best of all she taught us to love unconditionally. We couldn't have asked for a better person to be our Aunt. We all thank you for loving us! You will be terribly missed!

Sue has been our neighbor for over 30 years. She babysat for us a few times when our children were small. She was such a nice lady. She always had a smile and kind words when you saw her. Our deepest condolences to her family. She will be missed in the community.
