Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Dry Fork Baptist Church in Guthrie. Burial will follow at Dry Fork Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Dixie was born on March 6, 1922 in Guthrie, Missouri to the late Wallace and Anna Mae Emmons Jones. She was married to Ralph W. Rhodes on September 2, 1942 in Guthrie and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She was a 1940 graduate of New Bloomfield High School and she worked for over twenty years as a Secretary for the Grandview School District until her retirement in 1984.
Dixie was a member of Dry Fork Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter 280 in Moberly, The Women of the Moose, Missouri State Teachers Association and the Callaway Retired School Personnel. She was an active member of the Guthrie Service Club founded in 1928 and her mother was one of the charter members of the club.
She enjoyed playing cards, dancing with her husband, taking care of her cat, Max, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Deanna (Joe) Rhodes of Kansas City, Natalie (Eric) Pool of Kansas City, Raquel (Patrick) Castrop of Jefferson City, Nicholle Rhodes of Jefferson City and Jeffrey (Jessica) Rhodes of Holts Summit; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Dixie was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis D. Rhodes and one sister, Mildred Wilson.
