Donald was born March 6, 1937 near Mokane, MO the son of the late Robert Lee and Emma (Dungan) Gibbs.
On March 15, 1964 he married Patricia Lynn Weseman in Fulton, MO. She survives of the home. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this coming March 15, 2014.
Donald is also survived by one brother, Kenneth (Myrtle) Gibbs of Columbia; two nieces, Janice Gibbs and Brenda Gibbs, both of Columbia; three great nieces, Hillary, Emily and Lauren Shae Brown of Columbia; one great nephew, Cameron Brown, Columbia; two aunts and numerous cousins. His many friends include his Lodge family.
He attended the Thorn Hill School near Mokane and graduated from the old Mokane High School.
Donald worked at Harbison Walker Refactories for approximately 42 years and retired September 30, 1998.
He was a member of the Mokane United Methodist Church, Knights of Phythias #239 in Fayette, Mokane Odd Fellow Lodge #597 with over 50 years of service, Mokane Rebekah Lodge #812 , he joined April 26, 1962, Westminster Encampment #30 in Fulton, and Columbia Patriarchs Militant #41. He served as Department Commander of the state from 1994 to 1996. The lodge was an important part of his life.
Donald’s enjoyment in life was his farm including his cows and his cats.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Debo
Funeral Home in Fulton, Mo with Steve Mallinckrodt officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. Odd Fellow services will be at 7 P.M.
