

Don was born on April 11, 1933 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Oscar P. Klund and Ida (Krysl) Klund. He married Jo Anne Henry on June 15, 1958 at the United Methodist Church in Columbia, MO.
Don will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons: Jon Klund (Cecily Myers) of Cloverdale, CA and Ron Klund (Renee) of Columbia, MO; siblings Carole Texier (Art) and Bill Klund (Connie), six grandsons, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ida Klund; wife, Jo Anne Klund; sons, David and Tim Klund; and nephew Jeff Watson.
Don served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He graduated from University of MO with a degree in Agriculture in 1958. He retired in 1993 after 33 years with State Farm Insurance. He enjoyed traveling with Jo Anne and visited every state except Alaska. They spent three weeks in Hawaii and enjoyed their 25th anniversary cruise on the USS Norway to Nassau and St. Thomas. They were also avid square dancers. They served as President of the Callaway Calico Square Dance Club and vice president of the Northeast District Square and Round Dance Federation Board. He always loved gardening & farming no matter how small. In later years, his backyard tomato patch was his farm.
Don served as Deacon of the Broadway Christian Church in Columbia and the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fulton. He served on the School Board of the old Strawn School in Columbia and served on a feasibility Commission for a second high school in Columbia or Boone County. He also served on the Board of Boone County Water District #7.
Don enjoyed being Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop #701 with oldest son Jon. They camped out the third week of every month all year long, including one weekend at Camp Thunderbird in a foot of snow. He was a past member of the Twilight Lodge in Columbia, the Elks Lodge in Bloomington, IL, and VFW in Fulton. He was also a member of the Black Angus Association, where he had a herd of 30 registered Angus on a farm North of Columbia, which he sold when transferred to State Farm home office in Bloomington, IL in 1972. After 6 years in Bloomington, Don and Jo Anne relocated to a 160 acre farm in Kingdom City.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Debo Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Williamson officiating. Entombment will be at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, MO.
