Dwain was born on April 21, 1939 in St Joseph, MO to Reber and June (Malloy) Alexander. He worked as a forklift operator for 34 years at Harbison-Walker Refractories in Fulton, MO. One of his proudest accomplishments was earning his General Education Development Degree at the age of 59.
Dwain had a passion for antique tractors. You could often find him in his shop tinkering around on his tractors. He loved sports, particularly college football and NASCAR. Perhaps the greatest love of his life was Max, his canine companion for over 16 years, and the most spoiled dog in the world! Albeit later in life, he became quite the cook and would exchange recipes with his granddaughters. Most importantly, he was a family man. He loved us all, unconditionally, with his big, giant heart. This includes close friends that grew to be family, like neighbor Red Bruns. He loved Red like a son. He worried often and about everything – and we all knew it. But it came from a place of love, and we knew that too. He was our rock and this loss is heavy for us.
Dwain was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Alexander. He is survived by: one son, Michael Alexander (Debbie) of Jefferson City, MO; two daughters, Debra Ross (Steven) of Apache Junction, AZ; and Teresa Farris (Wade) of New Bloomfield, MO; one brother, Don Alexander (Kathy) of Fulton, MO; four grandchildren: Sonya Kenck, Christina Alexander (Jason Van Pelt), Jason Mott (Kelsey), and Tanner Farris; and six great-grandchildren: Reiley Kenck, Carli Van Pelt, Jo Lynn Van Pelt, Laney Bernand, Wesson Mott and Harli Mott.
Due to the present healthcare precautions, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association, c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court St, Fulton MO, 65251.
