Floyd Newsom

Graveside services will be 2:00pm Friday, September 8, 2017 at Eastlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Missouri.

Floyd was born December 31, 1941 in Williamsburg, Missouri to Floyd M. and Betty Browning Newsom who preceded him in death. He was married to Martha Dempsey on February 26, 1963 in Marshall, Missouri and she survives.

He owned his own Taxidermy business and he also worked as an auto mechanic and then retired after working at Fulton State Hospital.

Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church in Mexico and the Boonslick Muzzle Loading Club. He was an avid coin collector. He loved to hunt and restore old cars but he especially loved to fish and spend time on the Missouri River.

Survivors also include sons, Daniel Newsom of Auxvasse, Ricky Newsom, Darren (Brytnee) Newsom and Jeffrey Newsom all of Montana; daughter, Tamera (Eric) McCarty of Auxvasse, Missouri; brothers, Riley Newsom of California, Benny Newsom and Gary Newsom both of Mexico, Missouri; sisters, Ida (Junior) Jennings, Mary Johnson and Betty Jo (Darrell) Miller all of Mexico, Missouri; grandchildren, Kayla Young, Cole McCarty, Cody McCarty, Curtis McCarty, Trevor Haaland, Derick Newsom, Samantha Reiter, Sheridan Newsom, Lilly Newsom, Tyler Newsom, Karsyn Newsom and Harley Newsom; great-grandchildren, Kolton McCarty, Klaira Young, Khloe Young, Kennedy Young, Taylor Newsom, Sawyer Reiter and Killian McCarty.

Floyd was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Newsom and his brother, Cecil Newsom.
