Funeral services officiated by Rev. Don Deeker will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in High Hill, Missouri. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery near Jonesburg. The family will receive guests from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Neil was born on May 27, 1938 in Jonesburg to Robert Henry and Edna Marian Snedeker Wright who preceded him in death. He married Charlotte Ann Brewster on June 8, 1968 in Jonesburg and she survives.
Neil attended Walnut Grove, Big Four and Warrenton grade schools before graduating from Warren County High School in 1957.
He lived and worked in Kansas City for a couple of years after graduation before returning to Jonesburg and began delivering milk to local residents. In the early 1960’s,he owned and operated Neil’s Market in Jonesburg. After the store was sold, in 1975 he went to work for the Missouri Department of Conservation until his retirement in 1998.
Neil loved to be outdoors and was able to purchase the family farm in May of 1970 and lived there until his death. He always planted a large garden and worked hard raising hogs, cattle and baling hay.
He is also survived by daughter, Jill (Jim) Cobb of Warrenton, Missouri; son, Jeffrey Wright of High Hill; brothers, F. Arnold Wright of Columbia, Missouri and Donald Glenn (Toodie) Wright of Jonesburg; sisters, Hazel Hawkins of Florissant, Missouri, Doris Quanty of Jonesburg, Imogene Theisen of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary Lou Taylor of Kearney, Missouri and Donna Wilde of Columbia, Illinois and two grandchildren, Cassie Lenzenhuber and Nick (Danyelle Dieckman) Lenzenhuber, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Neil was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee and Pearl Witte Brewster; Aunt, Rilla Shearmire; brothers-in-law, Everett Hawkins, Paul Quanty, Jim Theissen, Bill Taylor and Herb Wilde and one sister-in-law, Dolores Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Cemetery Association or St. John’s United Church of Christ Ladies Aid.
