

James Wilson “Red” Gilmore, 93, of Fulton passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Harry S. Truman Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia. He was born October 29, 1917 in Howard County, Mo., the son of Charles Henry Gilmore and Lucy Frances Ward.
He was united in marriage on January 27, 1942 to Opal Mae Christopher who preceded him in death.
James lived an active life until just a week ago. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a member of the VFW Post 2657 and Callaway County Senior Center. He was known as a great storyteller and a family man.
Left to cherish his memory is one grandson, James Michael Gilmore and wife Jeanine of Aurora, Co.; two step-granddaughters, Sarah Suffel and husband Josh of Cleveland, Oh. and Julie Buzard of St. Louis; one daughter-in-law, Susan Gilmore of Columbia, Mo.; and one sister, Ethel Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, wife, and one son, James Allen “Pepper” Gilmore.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm on Thursday, July 21 at the funeral home.
