

James E. Schmidt, 85, of Kingdom City, Mo., passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born March 2, 1929, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late Henry J. Schmidt and Elsie McDaniel Schmidt. On November 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marie V. Stockhorst. Mr. Schmidt was employed by Samuel's Shoe Company for eight years. He was later employed and retired from Harbison-Walker Refractories after 35 years. After retirement, Jim enjoyed raising cows, being outdoors and enjoying nature and spending time with his family. He was also a big St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Marie; son, Edward (Marta) Schmidt of Kingdom City; daughter, Linda (Michael) Offineer of Fulton; brothers, Henry (Betty) Schmidt of Fulton and Robert Schmidt of Junction City, Kan.; sister, Joyce (Charles) Vandeloecht of Fulton; grandchildren, Wendy Brownell of Denver, Colo., Carmen (Curt) Schafer of Auxvasse, Scott Schmidt of Columbia, Rene (Andrew) Revelle of Parkersburg, W. Va. and great-grandson, Isaac of Denver, Colo. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Entombment will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Miami, Florida 33131.
