

Born in Ripley County, Missouri to Samuel Rufus and Phenie Ollar-Hufstedler, John was the fourth of seven children. He graduated from Doniphan High School in 1931, and remained in Ripley County as a teacher and a farmer until 1962 when he moved to Fulton, MO. There he worked as an aide at the Fulton State Hospital, retiring in 1976. In 2010 John left Missouri and moved to Cave Creek, Arizona where he spent the remainder of his years in the home of his eldest daughter, Pat.
John married Captola Rongey in 1934. He is survived by four of their children, Patricia Mae Risenhoover (Wayne), of Cave Creek, AZ; Glenna Jean Hutton (Richard), of Scottsdale, AZ; David Jon Hufstedler (Linda), of Fulton, MO and Kathy Sue Milburn (Don) of Harrison, AR. John also leaves 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are one daughter, Frances Ann Robison (Ron), of Rolla, MO, three wives, Captola Rongey, Pearle Pigg-Young, and Vera Becker-Youse, and six siblings, S. R. Hufstedler, who died in WWII, Horace Hufstedler, Grace Rohlfs, Bess Green, Eunice Hurt and Virginia Pulliam.
John influenced many people with his quiet wisdom and gentle spirit.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A short graveside service and burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 in Hufstedler Cemetery near Doniphan, Missouri.
