Shirley M. Coots

Shirley Mae Coots, 75, of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away on May 15, 2019 at River City Living Community in Jefferson City. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Guthrie Cemetery in Guthrie, Missouri. Shirley Mae was born on December 8, 1943 in Fulton, Missouri to the late Billy and Mary Bedsworth. She had been married to Bob Rankin and he survives in Fulton, Missouri. Later she married Jerry Coots who has preceded her in death. She was a graduate of New Bloomfield High School before working at the Stride-Rite Shoe Factory in Fulton. She then worked at the Fulton State Hospital for more than twenty years until her retirement. Shirley Mae was a great cook who enjoyed canning vegetables, gardening and caring for her flowers. She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Mantle and her husband, D.J. of Jefferson City; two sons, Bobby Rankin and his wife, Paula of Jefferson City and Derick Coots of Jefferson City; one brother, Clark Bedsworth and his wife, Connie of New Bloomfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Michael, Bryan, Maggie, Brooklyn, Brenton and Bradyn Mantle, Alex and Dani Coots; two great-grandchildren, Jaycie and Myron; her long time life partner, Jim Cave of Little Dixie, Missouri along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Heather and Justin Myers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Hospice Compassus all in care of Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Missouri 65251.

Shirley was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Heather and Justin Myers.

Shirley and I worked together with the kids in FSH. She was always caring and outgoing, and made the kids ward a happy experience for the clients, who thought of her as "mom". She will be missed.
